We are delighted to announce our upcoming Summer Showcase at Soho Theatre in July 2025
Our showcases have been attended by a wide section of leading industry names including The RSC, The Globe, Complicite, Paines Plough, International Artists, Amanda Howard Associates, Cole Kitchenn Personal Management, Mia Thomson Associates, Scott Marshall Associates, Shepherd Management, Bill Kenwright Ltd, as well as directors from stage and screen, including directors working for the ongoing BBC drama departments. The showcase is limited to 24 Actors Guild Members, carefully selected to create a varied cast to encourage a strong industry presence. The cost includes central London rehearsal space, director, theatre hire, technicians, bar, showcase staff and administration costs.
The showcase will last just under 1 hour. Actors will be on stage throughout, performing one two-minute monologue each, and also forming the character led links between scenes.
We are honoured to announce Sarah Esdaile as our Director for this year's Summer Showcase.
Sarah Esdaile has recently made the move from theatre to television where she has directed forty episodes of Eastenders as well as episodes of Call the Midwife including a Feature length Christmas special to be aired at the end of 2024 and two episodes of The Chelsea Detective starring Adrian Scarborough.
Sarah's numerous theatre credits include Abigail’s Party for ATG with Jodie Prenger as well as the 40th Anniversary production of Abigail's Party (Theatre Royal Bath & Tour) with Amanda Abbington, The Deep Blue Sea with Maxine Peake and Death of a Salesman with Philip Jackson both for West Yorkshire Playhouse where she was an Associate Director. James and the Giant Peach and the BFG for the Octagon Bolton, Talking Heads for Theatre Royal Bath and Tour, Single Spies at The Rose and PAXO - a one man show with Jeremy Paxman at The Pleasance Edinburgh.
Nuts & Bolts:
We are using the downstairs theatre at the Soho Theatre. The Actors' Guild has strong relationships with many leading casting directors, directors, agents and producers and will invite all those who have worked with us, as well as our other contacts, although of course we can not guarantee their attendance. Participants accept it is their responsibility to invite those they would like to attend - although all bookings will go through the Actors' Guild office. We will provide soft drinks and/or wine for those attending.
Dates and Times:
All applicants will be emailed self-tape instructions to submit their audition with 48 hours of applying. This should be the monologue you would like to do in the showcase, however if you were accepted and wanted to change we could discuss this with you.
Individual Rehearsal:
21st July-23rd July - Each actor will have a 1-hour one-on-one rehearsal via Zoom with Sarah to work on their monologue.
Company Rehearsal:
24th July - Full company will have a rehearsal with Sarah Esdaile.
Tech Rehearsal:
25 July - Morning of the showcase there will be a technical rehearsal at Soho Theatre.
Showcase:
25th July 1pm-2pm - Soho Theatre
For actors selected for the showcase, the fee wil be £445. Payment plans are available. The cost includes central London rehearsal space, director, theatre hire, technicians, bar, showcase staff and administration costs.
