Date: November 7th
Location: New Spotlight, 3rd Floor, 16 Garrick Street, London WC2E 9BA
Time: 18.00 - 21.00
Gemma Hancock is currently a casting director for the in-house casting department at the BBC and she has been working in casting for over 20 years.
Current screen credits for the BBC include Casualty, Father Brown, Shakespeare & Hathaway.
Having looked at your Spotlight CV and Showreel, Gemma will send you a specific scene from a TV drama she has cast to look at a day before the workshop. Each actor will have the opportunity to 'audition' for the group and Gemma will offer feedback and the opportunity for participants to work the notes into a second reading.
This workshop offers the opportunity to master the process from the moment you walk through the door - what is expected of an actor in the room, and how to hone technical audition skills. There will be opportunity for questions to be answered as they come up during the workshop as well as a Q & A towards the end of the session.
Previous TV credits - with Sam Stevenson - include Don’t Take My Baby (2016 BAFTA winner), Our World War (2015 BAFTA nominated), Glasgow Girls (BBC3), Nightshift, Care, The Snipist, The Minor Character and Nixon’s the One (‘Playhouse Presents’ for Sky Arts), The Selection (Warner Bros), four series of Silent Witness (BBC1), Martin Amis’ Money (BBC2), Consuming Passion, Mr Loveday’s Little Outing (BBC4), The Inspector Lynley Mysteries (BBC1), and many episodes of The Bill for ITV. In 2010 Gemma and Sam received a Primetime Emmy nomination for their casting of Emma for BBC1.
Film credits include Treasures, Leave to Remain, Private Peaceful, Babel.
