I just wanted to say a massive thank you to The Actors’ Guild.
Winning the 2012 bursary is appreciated so much – I feel very lucky.
As everyone will know, it is not the easiest of professions; so when you have a booster like this, it’s really welcomed & I’m ever so grateful.
Apart from being a great community, Actors’ Guild workshops are also so welcoming and supportive. What’s more, if you’re working on an acting job and then pop in for a class, it never feels like you’ve been away at all! As actors we never stop learning and The Actors’ Guild is a terrific place to stay sharp.
I’ll do my utmost to make the best of this bursary. As Stella Adler said, (and I think De Niro after her), “Your talent lies in your choices”. I like to think that can be applied to every part of being an actor, whether making choices in rehearsals, or choosing whether to do a workshop. I try to keep that in mind – although I don’t know always how successfully!
I would highly recommend joining The Actors’ Guild to every professional actor, whatever their age and at whatever stage in their career they are.
Since being awarded the 2012 bursary, I was very pleased to be voted ‘Best Male Performance’ at this year’s 2013 OFFIES for Tooting Arts Club’s production of Barrie Keefe’s ‘Barbarians’. I’ve also enjoyed tackling a few TV jobs; including playing the painter JMW Turner in BBC 2’s ‘The Genius of Turner’. The gifts that came with the bursary have been very helpful; and I’ve tried to make the best use of them. I’ve continued to find The Actors’ Guild a great source of inspiration & encouragement.
